A little jem we came across use as a stop over heading back to London.we had to call as sat nav went wrong and Ben was very helpful and friendly gave us the directions. If you’re in the area food was very tasty and staff were friendly and helpful

We had an extremely disappointing meal here the other night. Real shame as we'd eaten here a month before and it was great. The steak was medium rare but tasted bitter as the grill needed cleaning. Cabbage was boring. Service at surly, short tempered and rude. Only time our server smiled was when they presented the bill expecting a tip. They obviously wanted to close early & would rather be elsewhere. Won't be back.

When you think of pubs that serve food all day, you would inevitably question its quality. But this pub hidden in the middle of a village is nothing short of a magnificent experience. The tranquility of the residential vibes and the occasional church bells you hear as you enjoy its fantastic food made this trip so wholesome. Who would have thought I’d rate their fish and chips as possibly the best one I’ve ever had, even with a lot of them from many coastal destinations known for their catch of the day. This pub needs to know they are doing everything right and the chefs deserve a very well deserved salutation from a grateful customer. Thank you and please keep up the great work.

Popped in for New Years Eve lunch and, despite being very busy, the staff were super friendly and patient. Menu was deliciously different, food arrived at a fair speed despite a busy kitchen service and tasted absolutely scrumptious. Delightful range of drinks and not expensive, with a cosy atmosphere to warm the heart. Cannot recommend more as a quaint, country village A34 stop off!

I came here with my Dad and we shared the bavette steak which was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Really nice ambiance and the staff were also lovely and attentive! Will definitely come again !

We called ahead as we wanted the Steak Bavette but had small (and hungry!) children with us. The staff couldn’t do enough to help us and were fantastic. We arrived to them informing us they were just plating up, and sure enough within a few moments of arriving, our piping hot food arrived. The staff were attentive, but not pushy and we really enjoyed our extended family meal here. Thanks so much for making it so easy!!

Nice setting, shame the atmosphere is not as equally nice. Asked for a quiet table, was placed in a loud part of the restaurant. Ask for another table and told none available all booked, very busy. But plenty of other free tables free. Food is not great either. Fish cake was salty and lacking other flavours. Poached egg was dry.
For pudding, we had the lemon tart, this was over sweet and dry, did not come with cream or ice cream, disappointing

I guess it is a pub geared more for a family set up rather.

I will say the kitchens accommodated my dietary restrictions which I am thankful.

I would not recommend this pub if you are going for a romantic date night or special occasion as a couple.

Hopefully other couples have had better experiences and this was a one off. I will not be returning

Friendly proper pub. Fish and chips were super and the pie was very meaty.
