Visited twice over the last couple of months with my husband and son. Both members of staff I saw were really helpful, and helped them identify the best products from their vast selection for them. The phrase "old fashioned service" is a bit sad as good knowledgeable advice shouldn't be a thing of the past, but it is apt, both members of staff knew their products well, made very useful suggestions and the service was unhurried, without any pressure. Both are pleased with their purchases/present.
I recommend Sands wholeheartedly.

What a fantastic place to shop for beautiful leather goods and gentlemen's couture. visconti rfid wallets and Ashwood day bags for the day in the city in italian leather . A rare establishment indeed. Super helpful staff and old fashioned bespoke customer service. Wow. A beautiful range of luggage too.

One of my Top 3 favourite independent stores in Colchester. Love the tradition of the store and the quality of the products to be purchased.
Recently purchased a leather cross body bag and while I was shopping my elderly Dad bought himself a cap and walking stick.

The last time I visited Sands was in the 1970's with my Mum to buy a satchel for school. Today I made a return visit with my partner. We were both impressed with the variety and quality of the goods on display and the helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. The shop has maintained its traditional character. We are really pleased with our purchases. It was a pleasure to be able to buy from an independent local shop.

Lovely little local shop. Great selection of bags, purses and luggage. Even some lovely jewellery boxes. Went in to browse the purses and they kindly kept one to one side for me whilst I went off for a couple of hours to decide whether to buy it with no obligation to go back if I decided not to get it. I went back to purchase it a few hours later and I'm so pleased I did.
The staff are very friendly and helpful too. So nice to support a local business amongst all the big high street chains

Great customer service.

I entered the store distraught due to a suitcase I’d bought 2 weeks ago that had been damaged at Heathrow airport. I was also moving in 3 days time so I needed a suitcase that I could rely on. Whilst being recommended other brands that have a better guarantee, I also learned that the suitcase wasn’t the issue. I should have contacted Heathrow about the damage. Nonetheless, I was given quality customer service. They managed to calm me down, explain the process of how to claim damage when the airport is at fault, and also kept my phone safe after leaving it there. Unfortunately, I was rushing around that day!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good choice of wallets and staff had good knowledge of the products. Most expensive wallet I've ever bought but excellent quality and pleased with all the extra pockets it had. I've filled them up.

Fantastic shop. My first choice for luggage, wallets, handbags etc. There's always a wide choice and I have never failed to find what I'm looking for. Our suitcases are still in great condition after years of use. If you love handbags, you'll be in heaven!! 🙂
