The website does not reflect the reality. From the outside it looks closed and I wondered if I’d been scammed at first - the tired exterior and ‘to let’ sign suggested this. The restaurant is closed so no breakfast or dinner.
Ring the bell and a friendly chap shows you to your room and is extremely clear about where the fire exits are in case there’s a need to evacuate…it felt like the place was deserted!
The room itself is pleasant but the mattress is bedsprung and in very poor condition. The bathroom is in a poor state with large holes in the walls (maybe where a towel rail might have been?)
The sheets and bathroom were very clean though.
It’s definitely not worth the £95 I paid. I’d say £75 at best. Such a disappointment as it wasn’t the stay I was looking forward to

Excellent location Free parking outside. Clean room. Minor downsides:they have a digital entry system which Booking.com did not tell me about resulting in having to find the manager who explained it all to me. There was nobody on reception and I only gained entry because another guest was coming out of the locked front door. The system is excellent but I would have liked to be inormed about it. The room could do with a chair so it is possible to sit at the dressing table and work on a laptop. No food available as of now, but I didn't want any.

Room was clean and bed was comfy.
George was really friendly and helpful.
However, rooms are in need of an upgrade.
Very disappointed that the pub and restaurant are both closed.
Breakfast not available either.
Luckily a few other pubs etc nearby!
Could be a much nicer place if renovated. Would consider coming back if this was done.

As previously mentioned the expiry of the lease means the tenant is no longer on site, he turned up promptly when we phoned though. |Just us and a painter in the building - room was delightful, clean and comfortable. SO needs a window blind though ; I was awake at 4.40 watching an amazing sunrise over pretty Deddington (think I may have preferred an extra three hours sleep)!

Currently the pub and restaurant are closed; just the rooms are open. There are no staff on site. The current lease has expired so the whole set up is in limbo. We had to wait for more than 30 mins after a prearranged check in time for someone to arrive. On our 1st night we were the only people on site which was rather eerie. |I'm not sure what would have happened in an emergency. |The room itself was of a fair size. Although it was described as 'deluxe', it was anything but. Lots of issues in the room itself such as: No soap or bin in the bathroom. Dirty carpet and skirting boards. Inadequate supplies on the tea tray (we had to buy more ourselves).|When we spoke to the manager after our stay, there were no apologies, just excuses. |We understand the limitations of an old building and accepted the low ceilings and small bathroom but if we known the current situation, we would not have booked. A small refund was offered as we booked through Hotels.com.

The Unicorn Inn is set in the beautiful village of Deddington.
Very quaint and ancient
George greeted us on arrival and made us feel extremely welcome
There is a large garden at the rear of the property which has plenty of benches and comfortable chairs...also it gets the sun all day, so it was lovely and quiet place to relax in
The room, although small it was very clean and nice crisp white bedding and towels.
Good size TV and a nice view over the garden.
Tea and coffee facilities provided
The double bed was extremely comfortable with memory foam mattress
A good size bathroom with a big walk in shower

Hotel hasn’t been renovated since when it was built (1700’s). The place was run down, my shower didn’t work properly hot water was unreliable, room was dirty when I arrived and they don’t clean while you are staying there. Dirty bedding, bugs and spiders in room every day even with windows all closed, holes in walls over the bathroom, uneven floors in room and all over hotel.
Would’ve given less than 1 star if it was possible.

Wish I’d read these reviews before staying at the Unicorn Inn! They should not be taking bookings. It’s dreadful. According to locals, it’s been closed for ages. There’s a big To Let sign on the front. No staff. A cleaner was there to give the key to our room. Building materials litter the entrance hall. In our room, there was no wardrobe or rail to hang our clothes. No soap to wash our hands, let alone have a shower. Broken blind at the window. This is more like a serviced room, not a hotel and certainly not worth hotel price! Please don’t make our mistake, stay somewhere else, the Unicorn Inn is truly dreadful.
