Working with Ann and her team at Middlethorpe Interiors was a seamless and reassuring experience from start to finish. We were living overseas when we appointed Middlethorpe Interiors, we had just purchased our new build and the idea of managing the entire build and the interior design alone was daunting. However, Ann immediately put us at ease, liaising directly with the build and specification team to ensure that every detail was handled with care and precision. It was incredibly valuable to have someone we could trust, who always demonstrated that she had our back, especially given the complexities of time zones and remote communication.

The project was not without its challenges, but the team handled every hurdle with professionalism and creativity, always offering practical solutions that aligned with our vision.
Her designs struck the perfect balance between the luxury boutique hotel aesthetic we wanted and the practicalities we needed for our new home. Her recommendations always felt thoughtful, and we particularly appreciated her attention to detail.

We are now living in our new home, life is busy and we couldn’t be happier. Each space Ann and her team has carefully designed for us is very personal, its fulfils our day to day needs and has provided the perfect backdrop for us to relax and entertain. I worked with Ann and Middlethorpe Interiors on the renovation and re-design of my kitchen, lounge and dining room, following extensive remedial damp work in my Victorian terrace in York.
After initial consultation, Ann took on board my requirements, budget and interior tastes and was great at suggesting ideas and pulling together a proposal - pushing me outside my comfort zones at times, but with the aim of creating a beautiful yet functional look, with close attention to the period features and existing limitations of the building.
Work took place during the Pandemic, which brought issues of its own, but Ann worked collaboratively with both myself, the Builder, and helped recommend and project manage the excellent tradespeople required to execute the design.
There were regular visits and checks on the quality of workmanship - and the resulting renovation was fantastic!

We worked with Ann on the renovation and redecoration of our house ( 5 rooms including living room, dining room and main bedroom plus landing and stairway) during 2022 and 2023. From the very moment she visited to look at the property and propose options she was an inspiration. Ann throughout the project was creative , imaginative and pushed our thinking in design , colour and feel. She created mood boards , developed budgets and plans , provided fabric and paint samples and used her experience and professional network to great effect on our behalf. She makes insightful and useful suggestions for solutions to problems and always respected our budget and decisions. Ann works with a team of craftsmen and tradesmen who are all exceptional from joiners to plumbers , upholsterers , electricians and decorators. With any project there are scheduling issues but Ann always aimed to keep us up to date and fit in with our needs. Ann is very easy to work with and made the whole thing seem fun and genuinely showed as much joy as we did in the outcome. We are now working with Ann on planning additional rooms and are confident she will deliver the same professional service and contemporary feel to the project that she has successfully provided on the rest of our home.

It has been a real pleasure working with Ann and her team. I chose to contact Ann after seeing her projects on the Middlethorpe Interiors website as I was really attracted to the soft furnishings which looked modern and tasteful. Ann came to visit us in our new house and I feel she really took her time to understand what we wanted to achieve from the design
project. She took special note of what we were happy to change and which pieces of furniture we wanted to keep and which had a special meaning to us. Ann has an invaluable knowledge of fabrics and she was wonderful at sourcing swatches and coordinating trimmings but what I especially liked is that she was not frightened to push my boundaries and gave me the confidence to go out of my comfort zone and be more daring with textures and patterns. I am absolutely delighted with the end result and have had so many compliments on the scheme created by Ann and her team. Ann also has a great network of interior contacts and her communication throughout the project was second to none. I had regular updates on lead times and if I had a query she would respond Immediately. I would definitely recommend Ann if you are looking for someone to help you with an interior project no matter how big or small. She is a delight to work with and nothing is too much trouble.

Ann and team provided a fantastic colour scheme for our house which saved on numerous conversations on what colours would work well in our house. Ann visited with colour swatches, listened to what our aim was with our house renovation and created a fantastic colour way for the whole house. After our consultation we were provided with sample pots of the chosen paints to ensure we were happy with the colour scheme. Now that the renovation project is completed we have a paint scheme which flows through the house and pulls the house together and the colours flow from room to room creating a fantastic, restful experience. I have worked with Ann in both houses we have owned since moving to York - both being completely different to each other. From initial meetings to discuss the window treatments, Ann has an uncanny ability to tap into your mind coupled with a seriously impressive knowledge of fabrics and design. Ann listened, challenged me and presented back ideas that were completely what I had in mind but perhaps struggled in some instances to articulate! Additionally, she's not afraid to push the boundaries and introduce new ideas to schemes that perhaps hadn't been thought of. All of this made the process enjoyable, speedy and so easy! On top of this, Ann is a really nice person to be around which is so important when you're inviting 'trades' into your home. Attention to detail is also one area that sets Ann apart - her standards are extremely high and the finished products are perfect, including the installation.
