My first visit to Ashburton having moved to Devon and loving oriental particularly japanese art, armed with a wallet full of cash and looking to buy something of a statement piece with my mum’s inheritance I was taken by the range of antiques on offer, I entered the shop and was asked what I was looking for, I explained rustic pieces but a preference for japanese, he showed me 2 large bronze vases , even though I enquired about the price he said nothing for you here good luck in other shops, bye, before I’d even looked at anything, it was like a scene from league of gentleman, local shop for local people. Complete personality bypass. The rest of ashburton was amazing though everyone else we met was the polar opposite thank god!

The owner is the most rude man I have ever met in retail. It is hard to believe he sells anything. He is abrupt and totally unhelpful. Do not visit here go to the other antique shops in the town.

Ashburton shop is amazing! A beautiful treasure trove of antiques. Service felt very personal, we really enjoyed learning more from Dennis and seeing part of his collection. Highly recommend, can’t wait to visit again.

Wow rude shop owner, there was three of us , door shut in my face and told two at a time. Commented to my husband that his shop was a real antique shop. Did he think we didn’t have money or something. Will never ever visit again.

Highly recommend - the most interesting antiques shop I’ve been into for years. Dennis is an ‘old school’ dealer who only deals in proper antiques and his prices are not unreasonable for anything from a human skull to 18th century Delft. He doesn’t approve of time wasters so can be a bit gruff but really has a great sense of humour!

Denis is a good man who has an incredible knowledge of antiques and has an amazing collection. Once we got in and he realised we were genuinely looking to buy something from him he was a real gentleman and we got two terrific pieces.

What a top man, Denis is extremely helpful and his knowledge is second to none. His shop is full of extremely unusual antiques he has that something a bit different than the rest. I liked his straight talking as well as his very reasonable prices , bought an amazing art deco figure which I'm thrilled with thank you and best wishes to you Denis! Amanda.

We were in Ashburton this past week and are both interested in antiques. We were surprised to arrive at this shop and not even be allowed inside. I was told "there isn't room" and the door was then closed on us. We visited several other antiques shops in the town and felt very welcome in those.
