Used to be a good academic bookshop but now seems to be trying to be more of a consumer/popular bookshop like Waterstones (but better).

If you're looking for art supplies, games, popular fiction & nonfiction it's perfect.

Still has a modest medical section as well as language/linguistics, sciences, classics, business, etc for the essentials.

Nice shop with an arts supplier inside. Books are arranged neatly with recommendations on each shelf. The acedemic and classics sections are a unique feature of this shop. I regularly tour book shops in Newcastle on weekends and have observed this store as the only one selling acedemic texts.

The person that helped me select a book for my child was incredibly knowledgeable on children's books and recommended what have become clear favourites. The shop is well kept and attended to - and I couldn't fault the service or place itself.

I just wanted to review this place in particular for their outstanding children's book recommendations. These are books that they have sometimes ordered in especially based on the recommendation and I always come away very happy with their lovely communication and their suggestions of books to try!

I often go on a Sunday and the customer service is fabulous. Jonny (I think?) has my children screaming with laughter (and of course it makes my life easier because they subsequently never say no to going back and they usually are not fan of bookstores to put it mildly!!!!).
Today the lovely female shop assistant not only remembered me but she remembered the type of books I had enquired about!!!! The best salespeople make you want to buy more, more, more.... congratulations young lady, you always make me feel enthused and I never leave empty-handed!!!! Great place for real book lovers. Will be back soon 🙂

I visited today with my grandchildren and was absolutely blown away by the experience. It’s a lovely, well stocked shop. Staff member Johnny greeted us as we entered and answered my query about gift vouchers. While we were browsing he came over and chatted and joked with the children. He continued chatting as he served us, commenting on each purchase. He made our visit an absolute delight.

Really good library with academic books and also novel. The prices are affordable and there is also materials for art student or architecture Student. You can find notebooks, manga, agenda, novel, study book. There is a good organisation and books are in good state. (There is a personal recommandation)🌸🌸

We popped in today to get some books but ended up buying Pokemon cards! My boy said he would only buy the cards from Blackwell's from now on as Johnny was very knowledgeable/ professional and introduced us to thier Pokemon club! Thank you Johnny, you made my son a very happy boy! We penciled in for the club day so we shall come and enjoy Blackwell's again!
