An old shop that still stays open and sells those little or large things that you can't get anywhere else, without travelling miles friendly service, run by the daughter of the guy who first opened it god knows when, I can only assume it's a freehold who has refused to sell and good damn luck to him ,and his daughter for carrying on
It was a snapshot into the past. They, the daughter, and another,I assumed a member of the family were very helpful,re : The daughters father,I have no idea if he is still alive, my apologies if I sounded as though he had died, I don't have any photos, I didn't think of taking any next time ( it isn't far ,I unfortunately have to use a taxi as have a variety of things I'd rather not go into

Staff is too rude n no devotion to the business n respect to customer at all.it was 5:29 n shop was supposed to b closed at 5:30.she opened the door at my face saying we r closed.i requested her dont let me in just give me a gutta paint n take mony.she refused.i know they need to go home but didnt have to do a huge shopping.my daughter needed to complete the project but its left undone due to their stiff behaviour.she could easily have managed.

Lovely shop with some amazing products and great range. Sadly sometimes plagued by stock issues - if you carry a range (such as a brand of watercolours) it's best to ensure that when people come in they can be sure of getting the colours they need. Sadly this is not always the case. Some products are a bit pricey compared to competitors. Staff are mostly great, but you get the odd one who seems a bit aloof, albeit always helpful.

Also PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider stocking colour film chemistry.

Person behind the counter made me go back downstairs to prove that I didn’t steal an item (?) and said loudly to the other cashier “make sure she doesn’t take it out of her pockets”.

To clarify: the cashier asked me where an item was, which confused me and my partner because we didn’t understand what the cashier was asking us. I was then instructed to go down the stairs and retrieve the item and bring it to the till. I literally work in retail myself - this is a strange and unprofessional way to handle an allegation of stealing, and only serves to make the customer feel unwelcome and embarrassed.

The cashiers were standing behind the till doing nothing (as usual) so I suppose it was just a slow day for them and they wanted to create some drama. Hope it was worth it 🫡

I ADORE this shop! Visiting there is a lovely treat to myself as art materials are my favourite thing in the world. The staff are friendly and knowledgable, always happy to answer questions and advise.
