Amazing book store down town. It's so spacious and big. It has 3 whole floors! Definitely gives vintage vibes. So many books, records, manga, CDs, etc. There is so much variety and the staff are super helpful, friendly, and nice. Highly recommend a visit especially if you're already in the area for brunch or coffee. Walked out with two books and will be back. Honestly, I could spend all day at tgis store and it still wouldn't be enough. Support local book stores!

Some spaces just scream "For Book Lovers" and this charming bookstore is one of them. From the sidewalk shelves of $1 books to the stairs painted as recognizable book spines, this forty-year old store is a haven for story lovers.

Some bookstores are big and cluttered, leaving visitors to fend for themselves if they're looking for something specific. Not here. Within the cavernous space, there's a clear sense of organization - by genre and neat alphabetization by author's name. The selection is vast; from literary artwork, coffee table books, local geography, and manga, there's truly something for everyone. I especially loved the well-stocked children's section in the back, where I was endeared by the sight of a young bookworm sitting with her head in a book for a while without any one bothering her. That, more than anything else, is why I love local bookshops - they're homespun spaces where people can curate their love for books.

Speaking of homespun, this bookstore isn't fancy. The shelves look like they're made of unvarnished plywood that have been hammered together, and most of the store signs have been made with little more than marker and posterboard. Don't let that fool you - the workers here know their stuff. I overheard enough conversations to know they can talk books with anyone who walks in and can help you locate most anything in the store.

If you're in the area and need a space to just breathe in the smell of books old and new, please do yourself a favor and stop by.

Love perusing display selections and I picked up some of the brown paper wrapped surprise books with teasers written on - easy gifts! It's bookmarked by awesome shops, in a really good-sized walkable downtown that you can spend an entire day at.

I was recommended to go to this place by one of my clients. If you’re a book nerd, this is your place! If you like music, this is your place! If you are a breathing person this is your place because you’ve enjoyed at least one of the two!

As soon as you walk in, it feels like your in a infinite space of neatly shelved books. Any criteria that you can think of it’s there. When you walk to the right side of the building, you’ll find a section with records and music merch. It has a vintage vibe with the TVs and record player to play any of the records that interest you. BUT WAIT....

THERES MORE! If you head downstairs it’ll be more records that are available. There are also CDs, cassettes, and there are even posters available in the far back in the basement. Went in there thinking that 30 minutes was enough, but stayed almost an hour longer than expected because I was enjoying all of the nostalgia.

The Montclair Book Center is one of my favorite places to shop in Montclair. They always have inexpensive books on sale outside, and they have ample books and a cozy interior inside. When I lived in the area, this was the only book store I bought from. Highly recommend !
